Reductive Monotype

Reductive Monotype

For this reductive monotype I chose to use my original sketch. I started by tracing my sketch onto plexiglass with a sharpie. Once the sketch was complete, I then inked the opposite side of the plexiglass  with even amounts of ink on the surface. After inking the opposite side of the plexiglass, I then went in and removed ink using shop towels, q-tips, and my pencil. I thought that this would be a difficult process, but it really wasn't that bad! With monotypes, you cannot recreate the same image multiple times and it be identical like you can with linoleum cuts. So, I will have to repeat this process each time and hope that it looks the way I want. I plan to try an additive process (adding colors) with this same sketch. Below is a view of the process…

Lust

"LUST" - Terrionna Brockman

My freshman year at Arkansas Tech I had always wanted to take Printmaking. I would see upperclassmen's work and was just really amazed! Now, during my junior year I have the opportunity to take the class and I absolutely love it! It is totally different from anything that I've done before as far as the medium goes. There is a lot of work that goes into printmaking, and it is all worth it!! I look forward to learning more in order to improve my skills. I personally am interested in Black Art as well as artwork that empowers Black Women. Below is my first project in my Introduction to Printmaking course. I love how we, the students, get to create what we want in this class. Take a look at the process I went through to create my prints. Starting with a small sketch...
