Reductive Monotype

Reductive Monotype

For this reductive monotype I chose to use my original sketch. I started by tracing my sketch onto plexiglass with a sharpie. Once the sketch was complete, I then inked the opposite side of the plexiglass  with even amounts of ink on the surface. After inking the opposite side of the plexiglass, I then went in and removed ink using shop towels, q-tips, and my pencil. I thought that this would be a difficult process, but it really wasn't that bad! With monotypes, you cannot recreate the same image multiple times and it be identical like you can with linoleum cuts. So, I will have to repeat this process each time and hope that it looks the way I want. I plan to try an additive process (adding colors) with this same sketch.
